SIDEWALK SURFING

Sidewalk Surfing is a Niagara College documentary that will be shot by 5 NC students. The Documentary is written and directed by Dillon Erwin, and produced by Madison Garratt and Jordan Ogryzlo. Will Foran will be the official camera operator while Andrew Vandersteen takes care of the sound recording.

Who?

Where?

Sidewalk Surfing will be shot in San Diego, California. We chose California because it's the birthplace of longboarding, it's warm enough to shoot there in late February, and because of the beautiful surrounding landscapes!

When?

Why?

Sidewalk Surfing will be shot from February 21st, 2014 until March 3rd, 2014. The finished documentary will be complete in late April 2014, where it will then be entered into festivals. After this we will release the documentary for free online viewing/downloading!

As part of our 3rd year projects in the film program at Niagara College, we are required to shoot a documentary. We chose longboarding as our subject because it is a topic that the director and writer was truley passionate about. His love for both filmmaking and longboarding made choosing this topic a no-brainer. We also want to promote the sport, as well as push the importance of safety to anybody who watches.

What?

Sidewalk Surfing is a short documentary on the popular longboarding scene in California. The documentary features five professional longboarders as they skate around various spots in California and explain the different styles and techniques of longboarding. The documentary will cover the history of longboarding, different styles and techniques, longboard safety, and even the manufacturing of a longboard!
